What's Behind HHN Classifed Ads

It might be a bit puzzling as to what classified ads are doing on the Honduran Hope Network. Are the ads targeted toward Hondurans, non-Hondurans, or both? Both, probably, but with a heavy emphasis on non-Hondurans.

What it's not

It's not Craigslist. It's not meant to generate income for HHN. It's not about getting people to sign up so they can post ads.

What it hopes to be (which is why we are attempting it)

The experimental idea is to provide a place where Honduran service organizations can post information on things they need or are looking for -- both material and volunteer wise -- so that those looking to help can make a connection between that and what they feel called to do. The classified ads aren't meant to be lengthy explanations. Links and linked documents can provide all the references needed.

And volunteers who were looking to help constructively in Honduras with the skills they have could note the basic skill set they have, and a brief explanation of what they are looking for.

For those who are going to Honduras, the classified could provide some useful information on local establishments that the local non-Honduras have found to be of reasonably good quality and suitable for most Americans who might be visiting with a mission purpose. It's really useful to have non-Honduran insider information when one is getting started.

And perhaps for Hondurans, it would provide a quick reference and link for reliable local enterprises that are quite under marketed, but worthwhile considering.

HHN, of course, can't directly confirm most of these ads directly. We will try to weed out any bad ones brought to our attention.

That's the idea, but we'll accept any useful purpose that develops.

Adding your Ads

To add your own ads, sign up as a user. If your intent fits or modifies the "ad mission" in a constructive way, we'll add you to the group allowed to submit and post ads. Most ads will expire after 6 months, but that can be extended considerably is there is a reasonably mission purpose for doing so.
